How to play Reaction Challenge

Choose a round of Reaction Challenge and settle into its rules. Finish five valid responses. An early click does not count as a completed response; start that attempt again. Choose a clear next step rather than rushing through the instructions. Make your first input carefully and watch the result. Look at what changes after your first action.

Keep the aim in sight

Keep the stated aim separate from side details such as animation or appearance. Progress is measured by the game’s own completion or scoring rules. Notice the feedback after each input.

Your goal

Finish five valid responses. An early click does not count as a completed response; start that attempt again. An attractive position is not enough unless the goal is met. Check the rules when you are unsure.

Step by step

  1. Start a round and wait without clicking.
  2. When GO appears, click or tap the large target.
  3. Read your response time and start the next round.
  4. After five rounds, the game shows the mean time.

Controls

Use the on-screen controls with a mouse or touch. On a smaller screen, keep the active part of the board within view. Make sure you are interacting with the game rather than the surrounding page.

A useful example

A valid 250 ms response counts. Clicking during WAIT is too early and must be repeated. Your next round may have a different position, so inspect it before acting. Check the stated objective.

Watch out for this

Browser scheduling, screen refresh and input hardware can affect the measurement. It is not a medical test. A different version of the game may use a different rule. Choose one rule to keep in mind for this round. Apply it consistently rather than guessing what another version might allow.
